Ulduar Constellations [Windows 7 theme]

Ulduar may well be one of the most awe-inspiring and (quite literally) captivating places in Azeroth. This theme brings a few of its highlights (in particular, its many constellation-like sculptures) to your Windows 7 desktop.

As I do not have file hosting available to me for hosting the .themepack file, I will give instructions apply it manually. This theme offers the following appearance customisations:

• Desktop background
• Window colour
• Sounds
• Screensaver

Desktop backgrounds
The wallpapers are screenshots from around the main Ulduar complex. On taking, the user interface (UI) was hidden (using the Alt-Z chord). They were later post-processed to enhance and soften the colours. Click through to access the full image files.

All images have a blue tinge, a reflection of the sombre atmosphere inside the complex. The image of the broken lamp was recoloured to enable it to achieve this effect. In addition, the low camera angles capture the truly massive scale.

The following images take advantage of the rule of thirds to induce tension and prompt the observer to reflect on the turmoil happening within:

To apply this set of images as a wallpaper slideshow:

1. Save the full images to the same folder.
2. Open Control Panel | Personalization | Desktop Background | Browse... and add the folder as the picture location.
3. Recommended settings: tick Shuffle; set Picture position to Fill; Change picture every 30 minutes.
4. Click Save changes.

Window colour

This window colour imitates the luminous blue glass found around Ulduar and, more subtly, the holography of the constellations. It is optimised for Aero when transparency is enabled.

To apply this window colour:

1. Open ... | Personalization | Window Color and apply the above settings.
2. Click Save changes.

Sounds
With all manner of celestial models and effects, Ulduar appears as an otherworldly place. The Quirky sound scheme generates this atmosphere on the desktop.

To apply this sound scheme:

1. Open ... | Personalization | Sounds and select the Quirky Sound Scheme.
2. Click Save changes.

Screensaver
The Ribbons are as luminous as the constellations.

To apply this screensaver:

1. Open ... | Personalization | Screen Saver and select the Ribbons Screen saver.
2. Set the Wait time as preferable.
3. Click Save changes.
